Diego Forlan's ninth minute strike secured an advantage for the La Liga outfit, however Reina believes the Reds are more than capable of overturning the deficit at Anfield next week - particularly with the backing of the Kop.
"It's not the best result. We didn't play well but we believed we could score here. It wasn't possible, but it's only half-time and there are still 90 minutes to play at Anfield," said the goalkeeper.
"We knew they were going to push from the beginning because at the Calderon they are a strong team.
"We knew it could be a tough beginning, but after 20 minutes I think we settled down better and they didn't create too much apart from a chance in the second half.
"We cannot be happy, but it could have been worse."
There was a touch of fortune about Forlan's goal, who was afforded two attempts before bundling the ball over the line after being picked out by Jose Manuel Jurado's cross - while there were also appeals for handball by the Reds defence.
"I don't know if it was handball or not," reflected Reina. "We were a bit unlucky because Soto slipped and I almost blocked the shot."
Reina added: "It was important to keep the tie alive and, as I say, there is still 90 minutes to play Anfield.
"We are behind now and it is going to be difficult, but if there is any team that can do it with the supporters behind them, it is Liverpool. There is no doubt about that."
