Lucas Leiva is confident Liverpool will be fresh for Thursday's Europa League semi-final, first leg clash with Atletico Madrid - despite their epic journey to the Spanish capital.
With flights across Europe disrupted by volcanic activity in Iceland, the Reds are currently in the midst of an arduous trek to the Vicente Calderon which began in Runcorn on Tuesday and will end up in Madrid later today via London, Paris and Bordeaux.
However, Lucas believes the journey cannot be used as an excuse if Rafael Benitez's contingent fail to perform in what he describes as the 'biggest game' of his Liverpool career to date.
"We cannot complain as this is the only option," he said. "It will not be easy but we have to be calm and stay focused. It is not going to be an easy trip but you just have to try to rest as much as possible to be ready for the massive game we have.
"For me, this is the biggest game since I came here.
"We had great games last season against Chelsea in the Champions League but now we have a chance to win a trophy.
"It won't be easy, especially with the trip. But we have to be ready, accept it and not think too much about the trip. We cannot do anything about the volcanic activity - we just have to go there and try to do our best.
"UEFA didn't cancel the game so all we can do is try to bring back a good result for Anfield and give ourselves the best possible opportunity of getting to the final. We are all desperate to do that."
